Lampiro brings on your mobile phone the power of Jabber and GTalk, letting you connect and chat with your friends everywhere. Jabber is becoming a de facto standard in Instant Messaging (IM) with thousands of servers all around the world and by the increasing number of supporters like Gtalk. With the help of special services hosted on Bluendo Jabber servers (and many other Jabber servers in the world), Lampiro can connect you with your friends that use MSN/Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger and ICQ.

Interaction

Using the most advanced features that Jabber offers, we have developed much more than a simple Instant Messaging client. with Lampiro you can interact easily and effectively with remote services that we or other third parties could offer. At the moment Bluendo hosts on its servers:
  • a service with which can you read and send email with Gmail.
  • a service that can let you post and receive comments from your blog hosted on our site (http://blog.bluendo.com)
When using Lampiro, you will be automatically added a contact named Lampiro Agent. Through this agent we will inform Lampiro users of new Lampiro releases and new or updated services that we will offer.

Technology

Lampiro is a GPRS-based application and requires a phone supporting:
  • Java (MIDP 2.0 profile)
  • a GPRS1 connection correctly configured

1) GPRS fares are not under our control, so please check prices and availability of GPRS with your carrier. Keep in mind, when travelling abroad, that GPRS configurations may be different than in your home country and that fares may be significantly higher.

Community

Lampiro is easy to download, use and install: our site offers an on line demo together with a manual that explain how to use the software. Furthermore we offer a forum where you can ask for support and report issues found while using Lampiro.
Upcoming features
Lampiro is currently active develoment, next versions will contain:
  • improved bandwidth usage: to keep GPRS cost minimized, Lampiro is currently trying to keep bandwith use at its lowest. Develompent is currently underway to further reduce bandwith use.
  • improved battery consumption: life battery is a crucial point and Lampiro has been developed so to save battery power, but other optimizations may be done.
  • encrypted communication: to ensure your privacy, your communications will be encrypted and protected from unauthorized eyes
